As a young child Hannan Saleh would find herself in a library flipping through magazines admiring women in fashion. As she grew older her passion for the art grew stronger she would paint fashion editorials. One of her most memorable paintings is of the black and white cover of British Vogue of the super models by Peter Lindbergh. Seeing Naomi Campbell on the cover inspired Mrs. Saleh to want to see more women of color grace the front pages of more magazine. Which motivated her to focus on fashion photography in college.
After studying fashion photography in college Hannan Saleh created fashion editorials and was awarded Emerging Artist from the National Coalition of 100 Black Women in 2000, Beauty In The Eye of the Beholder Award in 2001 and the Turning Silver Award in 2003 from Women in Photography International.
Following that Ms Saleh started working with ESSENCE.COM creating their weekly street style segment. It was a work in progress as she figured out what street style should represent in regards to women of color. During that time she helped platform many bloggers and personalities by pushing consistent features on ESSENCE.COM.
After years of covering New York Fashion Week and working with other fashion publications she realized there wasn’t anything out there that represented her aesthetic of fashion individuality. So currently she is working on publishing a book “Street Culture.”
